Cedar Grill & Cafe is located inside a Shell gas station in Carmel Valley, but don’t be fooled. This little gem doesn’t serve gas station quality food, it’s fresh made, family owned Mediterranean/Greek fare. When you walk inside this Shell station you walk straight ahead and meet the front counter. The menu is fairly straight forward. Gyros, Falafel, Kafta and Chicken Pita Sandwiches served with fries and garlic sauce and/or mediterranean salad/hummus.

My favorite item here is the 2 Chicken Skewers plate with rice, mediterranean salad, hummus, garlic sauce and pita bread. The chicken is very moist and juicy, lots of flavor and seasoned nicely. The rice is moist, mediterranean salad is freshly made. They serve a generous portion of hummus which has a great flavor and sprinkled with a dash of paprika great for dipping pita bread. And the white garlic sauce is very garlicly, very yummy for dipping your chicken skewers in.

It takes several minutes (up to 10 mins) to cook, the chicken is fresh and they put it on the grill right after you order. There is seating available outside where people wait for their car at the car wash. If you’re in the Carmel Valley area around lunch time I would certainly stop by and check out the Cedar Grill & Cafe, a great family owned Mediterranean restaurant.
