Give Thanksgiving Dinner the Bird

Vacuuming and cleaning before guests arrive is a drag and the cooking, oh the cooking! This year, we have a roundup of ideas for you and nary a one of them involve sweating it out in the kitchen or deciding which one of your weird cousins has to sit at the kids table.

Ordering Out: Let Brazen BBQ make the main event for Thanksgiving dinner.  Chefs perfected the Brazen Smoked Turkey with herbed cranapple stuffing and all you have to do is order it.  Turkey gravy, orange port cranberry sauce, freshly baked cornbread and herbed mashed potatoes or brown butter green beans should definitely round out your order for a memorable spread. Why go anywhere else for dessert? Pick up Brazen’s delicious Bourbon Pecan Pie to end on a high note.

The skinny: Pre-order your holiday feast by November 19th and items will be available for pickup on Thursday, November 22nd by 1:00 pm. Call (619) 816-1990 or visit www.brazenbbq.com.

Dining In (but not at your house):
Homemade food without the cooking.  Uptown Tavern is offering mouth watering Turkey Roulade, homemade stuffing with Woodford soaked cranberries, chipotle cheddar sausage and candied nuts wrapped in turkey breast, served with potato puree and brown sage gravy.  All this for $18 and no cooking or decorating required.

The skinny: Open at 4pm. Call (619) 241-2710 or visit www.uptowntavernsd.com.

Must Watch Football All Day (on someone else’s big screen): Start the morning of Turkey Day off right at barleymash.  The Gaslamp’s newest hotspot is hosting this year and out of town visitors will be impressed with their selection of 31 local beers on tap. Doing Father Joe’s Thanksgiving Day 5K in Balboa? This is one place that’ll be open right after your run is done!
The skinny: Open at 9:30am. Call (619) 255-7373 or visit www.barleymash.com.

More Football:
End the evening with football and a nightcap or two at True North Tavern.  Get there in time to see the Jets kickoff against the Patriots at 5:20 pm. Be sure to have a cold beer in hand while you root on your favorite team at North Park’s ideal atmosphere for a casual and laid back night, a perfect place everyone can enjoy.

The skinny: Open at 5pm. Call (619) 291-3815 or visit www.truenorthtavern.com.

Leftovers Impede on Fridge Space:
Don’t know what to do with them? Bring your leftover pie to Pacific Beach’s favorite Irish bar, Brewley’s Pint to receive discounts on drinks.

The skinny: Open at 4pm. Call (858) 270-9922 or visit www.brewleyspint.com.
